1. Didn’t get tickets to the actual game?
There are many other places showcasing the AFL Grand Final game – whether you’re at home with Channel 7 on, or you can head over to Federation Square or even to the MCG for the Foxtel Foot Festival and let the kids play in the Kids Zone.

Get ready for friends and family and make some cupcakes/ food/ desserts with your team colours. You could also have a traditional Aussie BBQ with the family and watch the footy together. Surely everyone's competitive spirits will be fired up!
3. Go to the local park and kick the footy
Perhaps leaving the house will be too much hassle for you, and a day in your local area is up your alley. Take the day off to go to the local park with the kids and have a footy kick with them instead. You never know if they’ll be the next Dusty and win the prestigious Brownlow Medal. Start training with them ASAP!
4. Attend The Killers free show after the MCG
Last of all, even if you’re not a fan of the footy and want to enjoy some quality music and fun, The Killers are performing an after-match free concert at the MCG from 6PM-8PM. You can access this via MCG gates 4,5 and 6. This is their first time back in Australia since 2013 with a new song “The Man”, so if you’re a fan, don’t miss this unique opportunity!
5. Floral Shows
If you’re not into the footy and want to find some alternatives activities to do, there are a few floral festivals around Melbourne. You can head over to the Tesselaar Tulip Farm or the Cherry Hill Orchards Blossom Festival for some weekend fun in the sun with the kids. Take some memorable pictures and try out the Wizard of Oz Hunt!
6. Royal Melbourne Show
Take your kids down to the Royal Melbourne Show. With showbags, fun rides and farm animals – there’s surely an activity that suits all the family. We’d love to try out the different tasting plates and food available at the show!
Don’t forget to actually watch the AFL finals from 2:30PM on Saturday September 30. We’re ready for the day off and some quality time with the family this long weekend!
